Downtown Market supports The Fisher House at Ft. CampbellWhen you stop by the Downtown Market on July 4 and 11, you can help a good cause. Boy Scouts of America will be at the market collecting donations for The Fisher House of Fort Campbell. The Fisher House is place where families of wounded service members can stay while their loved one is undergoing prolonged treatment and recovery at the Veteran Affairs Hospital. ![]() Hershey Track and Field Winners Advance The annual local Hershey Track and Field Competition was held May 23rd at Kenwood High School. The competition gives young athletes a chance to showcase their skills in track and field, long jump and softball throw. Those athletes placing first in the local competition advance to the district competition and compete for a place in the statewide competition. For more information, click Family ![]() House Democrats sponsor bills that address Adult Care and Clean Energy State Representative Joe Pitts (D-Clarksville) and the Tennessee House of Representatives unanimously passed the second of four bills designed to expand retirement opportunities for seniors in Tennessee. "The seniors of today are living longer and stronger than those just twenty or thirty years ago and, as a state, we have a responsibility to provide our greatest generation with different options in how they want to spend retirement," said Pitts. The House overwhelmingly passed the "Tennessee Clean Energy Future Act," a bill designed to reduce Tennessee energy consumption as well as help expand opportunities to bring more green technology jobs to the state. Activities begin at 6 p.m. For more information, click City Life. ![]() Viva Catie II On June 3rd bicycle riders and team support for the Clarksville High School H.O.P.E (Helping Other People Everyday) Club left Clarksville to ride to Austin, Texas. This marks the second trek to Texas, "Viva Catie II." "Viva Catie II" was made for the purpose of raising money for two causes: the Lance Armstrong Foundation and in memory of their classmate Catie Summers (who died Dec 2007 at the age of 16 from Osteosarcoma, a rare form of childhood bone cancer) and the Memorial Scholarship named in her honor for cancer students of the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. Catie would have graduated from Clarksville High last month.
